T.J. Rempel, from Alberta, isn’t your typical trophy hunter—he’s more into backstrap than bragging rights—but when a buddy’s son spotted a buck so massive it broke the internet (okay, maybe just his phone), everything changed. His buddy sent him the photos that his son took, and lucky for Rempel., his friend’s son had already tagged out the week before. His buddy gave him the go-ahead to chase the beast, and after sweet-talking his wife (who was holding down the fort with a toddler and a newborn), T.J. went all-in.

However, it wasn’t that simple, as it was still five hours away, and Rempel still needed to gain landowner permission to hunt with the end of the season looming within days. But, somehow, the stars aligned and he bagged the beautiful buck, scoring a whopping 220-⅝-inches–all because his friend texted him while he was freezing his butt off five hours away in a stand.

Sure, this hunting story unfolded in Canada, but let’s be real—big bucks and adventures know no borders. Whether you’re chasing whitetails in Montana or just swapping stories, this one’s worth sharing. After all, who doesn’t love a little inspiration?

Moral of the story: always befriend hunters who’ve already filled their tags! KIDDING. Good friends are hard to find, so appreciate your friends!
