The ice in Nelson Creek bay and heading towards McGuire is in pretty good shape now with the exception of some of the shoreline areas. Most of the ice we checked was anywhere from 7 to 10 inches with some snow cover on it. Keep in mind shoreline areas can be very unpredictable and the main point out of Nelson going towards McGuire is usually open water all winter.
The ice line looked to be almost to Rock Creek on Saturday with a few spots north of Rock Creek froze all the way across. High winds and some warm temps this week might set that back a bit.
There is a small amount of ice in the Flat Lake bay. I walked about 50 yards out on it Monday and found 4-5 inches but it got thinner pretty quick so I would say there is no safe ice there. Be safe out on the ice this week and regardless of other tracks always check your ice.
