HELENA – A proposed amendment for an item on the June 20 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting agenda is available for public review and comment online. The commission will meet virtually June 20 at 8:30 a.m.
The amendment, proposed by Region 2 Commissioner Jeff Burrows, would change mountain lion quotas in some Region 2 mountain lion management units (LMU) as follows:
LMU 210: 4 males, 3 females, 7 total
LMU 240: 2 limited license, 8 males, 8 females, 18 total
LMU 250: 10 males, 8 females, 18 total
LMU 270: 2 limited license, 10 males, 10 females, 22 total
LMU 380: 1 limited license, 5 males, 6 females, 12 total
The proposed amendment is an increase in quotas that were recommended by the west-central Lion Ecoregional Population Objective Committee and Fish, Wildlife & Parks but is a reduction from those adopted by the commission in June 2023.
