Anglers get very hungry after a long day of fishing. Dinner needs to be quick and, in a hurry, once the crew is back at camp. Nothing fancy, just fast, filling, and flavorful!
Josh Stanish is the chef and guide to call. His Montana boating and fishing skills are only surpassed by his cooking skills. We once fished on the Bighorn River with a guide client from Florida, named Mr. Larry. He loved to fish and eat. Our 13-mile drift made us hungry as grizzly bears. Once the shuttle was done, we arrived at the Cottonwood Camp and watched Josh work his culinary magic. Before we had finished a cold beer, dinner was on the table.

This quick and easy Taco Salad has become a camp and family favorite.
- Ground Turkey
- 2 packs of Taco seasoning
- Salad
- Tortilla Chips
To make the dressing.
- 2/3 cup of Mayo.
- 1/3 cup of ketchup.
- Relish to taste.
- 1 packet of Taco seasoning.
Fry the meat with a small amount of oil and add one package of the Taco seasoning.
Prepare the salad. Onions go well with this dish. Using a variety of leafy salads adds to the fun. A dollop of sour cream, some olives, sliced avocados, and cherry tomatoes, on top never hurts. If we are camping, a “Bag O Weeds”, premade salad is fast to deploy. If you are in a hurry or don’t have the dressing ingredients, use a bottle of Catalina salad Dressing instead.
Now crumble the tortilla chips and add to the salad. Place the fried meat and the Dressing into a bowl. Crumble cheese on top. Blue cheese, or…
You will be surprised how filling this big bowl of salad will be. The chips add a nice texture to this flavorful salad.
Muy Bien!
