There are many meanings for the word “Joint”. Hunters and Anglers certainly need to pay attention to their Joints. Knees, shoulders, wrists, and articulating areas of our bodies mean that we can hike, cast, swim, and enjoy free movement.
Joints are the connections that make us active and mobile. As we age, arthritis, wear, and disease can take their toll. Our ability to wade, climb, and row become harder.
There are many other Joints that we use and connect to.Anglers love to cast Jointed lures. The original River Runts and many of the original Heddon plugs and lures were jointed, to create more action. These plugs would invite strikes from predatory fish. The Pikey Minnow was a deadly pike lure.
Joints are also a place where people go to connect. Hunters and anglers share stories and lies about their adventures at local Beer Joints and food Joints. Sportsmen and women articulate their ideas and feelings from time spent afield and on the water.
A “Joint” can also be a THC infused smoke. Rolling a Joint is required to smoke weed. Hemp based; legal products can offer pain relief for aging body joints. Anxiety and other benefits can help us stay active.
Fishing rods have Joints also called Ferrules. These connections hold long rods together. When separated they take up less space. Shotguns have Jointed actions so we can reload and take another shot. Highly crafted woodwork are connected with perfect Joints.
Joint bank accounts happen when we get married. Our financial futures relate to teamwork. We file our taxes Jointly or separately.
Many Joint military bases offer exclusive hunting and fishing access. I once was allowed to hunt at Edgewood Arsenal for deer. We were driven to premade tree stands in military trucks.
My favorite food Joint is the Willow Creek Saloon, near Three Forks, Montana, where they serve wonderful ribs. Small “Hole in the Wall” Joints are wonderful places to eat, drink, gather, and listen to music. Joints are a perfect fit for hunters and gatherers.
