Interior Secretary Doug Burgum issued an order late Thursday that directs the National Park Service to ensure the National Park System  “is properly staffed to support the operating hours and needs of each park unit.”

Parks should be open and staffed in accordance with hours posted on park webpages.

Burgum also asked for a report by April 15 on the operational status of each park.

Some parks are reported to be having difficulty with staffing this year.

National Parks Travel is reporting that some campgrounds in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park might not open. The publication is reporting numerous other closures and decreases in services as well, but none listed in Montana.
