We all love letting our dogs run free, but when they’re off-leash in the wrong places, they can cause serious problems for wildlife. A curious pup chasing after a deer might seem harmless, but that stress can drain the animal’s energy reserves—especially in winter when food is scarce. Ground-nesting birds, rabbits and other small critters can also be disturbed or even injured by an overly playful (or predatory) pooch. And let’s be real—dogs don’t always come when called, especially when they catch the scent of something exciting. Keeping your dog on a leash not only protects wildlife but also keeps your four-legged friend safe from getting lost, injured or in trouble with local regulations.

Here’s an example of that happening at Banff….leash em up!
