A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in-person hunter education field day for online students has been set for Glasgow. The course will be held at the Cottonwood Inn Convention Center from 2-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The online course (course fees apply) needs to be completed before signing up for a field day. Students aged 12-17 are required to take an in-person field day after completing the online course and receiving their field day qualifier certificate.
Consistent with FWP’s licensing laws, students who are currently 11 and who will turn 12 by Jan. 16 of the current license year may take the online course and the requisite field day. Adults 18 and older may take the field day to gain hands-on experience, though it is not required.
During the field day, participants receive instruction, practice, and then demonstrate their skills and knowledge in two key areas: firearm safety and hunting ethics. Instructors provide hands-on instruction and present realistic scenarios, then evaluate students on their understanding and competency. All hands-on firearms training is done with a variety of inert firearms.
The field day will be held in conjunction with a hunter, bowhunter, and trapper educator instructor workshop, allowing instructors at the workshop to observe the teaching of a field day. This is a great opportunity to get students certified ahead of the spring drawing deadlines.
Registration:
