Checked ice out of the flat lake ramp to about 1/2 mile south of bear creek and found 7- 7 1/2 inches everywhere we checked. There are a lot of pressure cracks that are going to make travel difficult out there this winter from what we saw. With the warm weather this week, we found a lot of unsafe cracks that have opened up. We won’t be traveling out of flat lake until it gets cold again.

Fishing down the dry arm has still been good and we found 12-14 inches of ice a mile or so north of McGuire. Most of our fish were caught on tip ups in 10-15 feet of water and few out just over 20 feet. We found a few lakers south of bear creek in 85-105 feet of water and were caught using jigs and paddletails.

Shorelines still need to approached with caution especially down the dry arm. Even with the thick ice there are long stretches of shoreline that are open.
