Well, folks, here we are—the finale of Montana’s general rifle season. The sun is setting not just on the horizon, but on weeks of early mornings, frozen fingers and that unmistakable aroma of gas station coffee mixed with campfire smoke. Today’s the day to pack in one last adventure, one last hike, and, hopefully, one last buck or bull for the freezer.
If you’re out there in the field, you’re probably wondering what you are going to do with your weekends now. (Don’t worry—ice fishing season is calling soon enough!) Today’s the day to leave it all out there.
Not tagging out? It’s all good. You still have the stories that’ll get more dramatic with each retelling. (“It was an 8×8… no, seriously, this thing looked like it belonged in Jurassic Park!”) For those of you who did fill your tag(s), congrats! Time to turn that wild game into some recipes shared by Kokanee Quinn for jerky, steaks and a side of bragging rights at the dinner table.
Here’s to a successful last hurrah and to looking forward to next year’s season already. Happy hunting, Montana!
