Lake trout bite has picked up the past week as more fish are moving into a post-spawn stage and are making up for not eating much the past few weeks, mostly look to target those fish close to shallow humps in 55-65 feet of water

Pike-northerns are still shallow in and around weed beds and cruising shallow areas of rocky points also, spoons, spinners, and some topwater lures are catching the most fish

Smallmouth bass-most of the bigger fish we caught this past weekend were deeper, 25 foot out to 35 foot, slip bobbers and minnows and trolling deep diving crankbaits caught the most fish for us

We will be off the water for the next couple weeks, but looking at the forecast, we might  have some ice to report on by the end of the month

We don’t get above freezing here for the next 15 days with most mornings single digits and a few below zero, I would say I will have some tip-ups out down off Nelson boat ramp next weekend if the forecast holds up
