No Capes, Just Fire Trucks and Community Pride

If you ask me, the real heroes aren’t flying around in capes—they’re the ones suited up in fire-resistant gear. I’m talking about the volunteers at the Sula Fire Department, the folks who drop everything and leap into action when things go sideways. They don’t just battle flames; they’re there for their community, supporting each other and showing up for every emergency. Whether it’s saving a home or putting out a brush fire, no job’s too big or small for these unsung heroes.

Just the other day, I witnessed their magic firsthand. While cruising by, we spotted flames coming from a cabin near the main road. Sure enough, one of the Sula Fire Department’s finest, who happens to be a friend named Brian Gartner, had just left the scene and was on his way to grab the truck and backup. But it gets better—a random hunter saw the smoke and figured he’d pitch in before we got there. Turns out, he wasn’t just your average outdoorsman—he was an airport firefighter! Talk about perfect timing. The fire trucks rolled in, and the crew jumped to action, saving the structure. It was a close call, but the Sula Fire Department came through and saved the day.

What makes these guys so incredible? It’s not just their firefighting skills, it’s the fact that they’re doing all of this while balancing personal lives, families, projects and everything else life throws at them—and they do it all for free! They don’t need a paycheck to prove their commitment; they’re here because they genuinely care about their community. The Sula Fire Department truly is the heart of the area, and they are always looking for new blood to join the crew to keep things moving! These everyday heroes are proof that sometimes the best heroes are the ones you don’t see on TV, but show up when you need them most, fire truck and all. Great work, guys!
