HELENA – Fish and Wildlife Commissioner K.C. Walsh, from Region 4, is proposing two amendments to the proposed fishing regulations, which are on the agenda for the Nov. 12 commission meeting. The commission will meet at Montana WILD and virtually on Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m. The commission meeting agenda is available for public review and comment online.

The amendments being proposed by Commissioner Walsh pertain to the definition of a hook and daily and possession limits for combined trout in the Western District and the Central District for rivers/streams.

  • The first amendment would remove the statement that “a lure with multiple hooks is still considered single hook.”
  • The second amendment would change the daily and possession limits for combined trout in the Western District and the Central District for rivers/streams to “3 daily and in possession.”

Comments on commission amendments can be submitted to the commission by going to fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/commission/october-2024-meeting. Comments on these amendments will be accepted through Oct. 31. Comments will also be taken in person at Montana WILD or any FWP Regional Office during the meeting and virtually during the meeting from those who register. Registration to comment is open now and will run through noon on Nov. 11.
