Montana is a state that loves its hunting traditions, and we’re celebrating it with a contest just for young hunters! Governor Greg Gianforte kicked off the Youth Hunting Story Contest back in 2022, giving Montana’s youth (ages 10-17) a chance to share their hunting adventures and compete for awesome prizes. Every year, the governor selects ten winners from all over the state, highlighting the incredible experiences our youth have in the great outdoors.
Think you have a story worth sharing? It’s easy to enter! Just submit a 500-word story and a photo from your 2024 hunt. Eligible entries include the harvest of any legal game, furbearer animals, or birds in Montana–it’s time to tell your tale. Just make sure you’re a Montana resident and a licensed hunter or apprentice hunter between the ages of 10 and 17.
The deadline to submit your entry is Monday, December 2, 2024. The Governor will select ten winners—five in the 10-13 age group and five in the 14-17 group—and winners will be invited to the Capitol in January to celebrate with the Governor himself and receive some exciting prizes.
From gear partners like Sitka, Kenetrek Boots, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, to taxidermy services by J2, this contest offers some incredible prizes! So, start writing, share your story, and you just might win big!
