During the fall, elk put on a wild show with their famous bugling. Bull elk use this sound to impress the lady elk and keep other males in check. The louder the bugle, the more respect they command. But all that bugling and battling takes a toll, and bulls can drop a lot of weight during the rut. You’ll usually catch the action around sunrise or sunset. And if you listen closely, you might notice that elk in different areas have their own unique bugle style.

Good luck to all of the archery elk hunters out there!  This one is for you!
