— The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest has withdrawn its Outfitter and Guide Environmental Assessment Project based on careful consideration of the feedback received during the public involvement process, including suggestions and concerns regarding administration of the existing outfitting and guiding program.

The Forest will begin scoping a new environmental analysis for outfitting and guiding activities under the National Environmental Policy Act soon. This new project will assess issuing permits to existing permit holders only; it would not establish a service day pool on the Forest.

Interested parties can view project details and self-subscribe to project bulletins and updates at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/bdnf/?project=66448.

Applications for new special use permits for outfitting and guiding on the Forest will be considered on a case-by-case basis and subject to environmental analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act.

The Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest would like to thank everyone for their engagement and thoughtful comments on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge Outfitter and Guide Environmental Assessment.
