With Montana news being our focus, we also like sharing fishing, hunting and trapping news from other areas. Here’s a bit about a state record in Rhode Island:
Zachary Taylor, just smashed the Rhode Island state record for the biggest rainbow trout–by a lot!
He reeled in a whopping 15-pound, 12-ounce beauty on January 18, 2024 at Peck Pond, beating the old record by over 3 pounds! And get this—the world’s largest rainbow trout ever caught was a whopping 48 pounds!
“I totally didn’t see that coming! It was such a wild surprise and seriously thrilling,” Taylor shared with Bella Pelletiere with The Valley Breeze newspaper.
While he is known as a record-breaking ice angler, he shares that title with his day job as a finance director. That day, he decided to take a solo trip to fulfill his passion for fishing.
Who knew that breaking away from the daily grind could turn out to be such a great decision that day?
