Alright, chill thrill-seekers, it’s that time of the year – the Fresno Ice Fishing Tournament, hosted by the Fresno Tavern, is upon us! Grab your gear, channel your inner Eskimo, and get ready to strut your stuff on the frozen stage. Whether you’re an ice angling pro or just looking to break the ice (literally), this tournament is your time to shine. Bring your A-game and warm gear – it’s about to get icy out there!
You can find registration forms at Fresno Tavern, Stromerg’s Sinclair and Blaine County Journal. It is $25 to enter. Registration opens at the Fresno Tavern (37980 US Hwy 2, Havre, MT) at 7:00am that Saturday morning, and there is a mandatory Rules Meeting there, as well, at 7:30am. Cash prizes are based on the number of participants for the largest of each species, and there is a 100% payback! Also, keep in mind that Montana fishing regulations and possession limits apply, and kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
“I just have chili ready for these guys when they come in after they come off the ice and then we do out the prizes after we find out who wins the largest fish and then we give out door prizes to each person that we draw out of the hat. We get a lot of good door prizes for people.” -Kodi Peterson via Hi-Line Today
