Depending on Who You Talk to, the Recent Court Ruling on Shortening the Wolf Trapping Season Seems to be a Bit Misguided or is it? Listen Here and See What You Think!
This week on the Montana Outdoor Podcast your host Downrigger Dale talks with Ed Hebbe, Communications Director of the Montana Trappers Association about Federal Judge Donald Molloy’s order to shorten Montana’s wolf trapping season. One of the main reasons for his decision was because wolf trapping could harm or kill grizzly bears. Do wolf traps really present a danger to grizzly bears? Click here to listen and find out. Rigger asked that question and many others to Mr. Hebbe and his answers may just surprise you! One very interesting thing that Ed talks about is, just how many traps have caught grizzly bears in the last ten years. You really have to listen to his answers. Another thing Rigger asked Ed was aren’t grizzly bears hibernating right now anyway? Or how about this question; could this decision cause other seasons to be changed or maybe even eliminated? If you hunt, fish or even hike in Montana you really need to hear the answer to that question. In fact, if you use certain roads or float certain rivers you better listen as well! Did someone just open a box that has a name that starts with P?
