If you have chickens in a coop that isn’t completely fenced in on top and sides, then you definitely want to be careful when you’re checking on your chickens.
An 11-year-old Colorado girl recently had a surprise when she went out to check on her family’s chickens and discovered one of the chickens was dead. The girl was confronted by a young mountain lion inside the coop, most likely seeking an easy meal, that swatted her face, leaving a small puncture wound.
The lion was euthanized by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).
This is just another reminder that when we live among wildlife, we need to always be vigilant and aware of our surroundings.
