Ryan Doll, a “multi-species angler from Ohio” reeled in one heck of a catch a couple of years ago. He referred to it as “One of the coolest smallies I have ever caught 😍” in his Instagram post.

Bass are masters of disguise! Their colors change based on their environment—darker in murky water, lighter in sandy areas—helping them hide from predators and sneak up on prey. Thanks to special pigment cells, they can adjust their look as needed, making them top-tier hunters in the underwater world.

He did end up releasing this water ninja after a few pictures, according to Whiskey Riff.

What a cool catch.
