The main on Peck finally has a cap on it. We checked ice off of the shaft house access on Tuesday and found 3 1/2 to 4 inches of ice out to the exposed islands. We also walked about a half mile out just north of the Rock Creek boat ramp and found 4-4 1/2 inches, so we are getting a start finally.

Fishing was good down the Dry Arm again mostly for walleye, with a few catfish and pike thrown in. Tip-ups with shiners and suckers worked well fished in 12-15 feet of water.

We made a run a mile or so North of McGuire Wednesday afternoon and found 12-14 inches of good clear ice. But same as the Nelson Creek area, some long sections of the shoreline are broken up badly and are wide open. I will add that some of the open areas in Nelson that were open refroze with the cold last weekend but are not safe to travel on, so use extreme caution anywhere near the shorelines.

Good luck out there and stay safe!
