Wounds are a common first aid issue for outdoor sports. Anglers can get stabbed by hooks, slashed with filet knives, bitten by gigantic fish teeth, scraped from briars and stickers getting to the secret fishing hole.

Recent research is finding an innovative way to speed up cutaneous skin healing without leaving a scar. The secret comes from Worms! An easy to make Worm Protein is being evaluated to promote faster healing that will not leave a mark.

This Worm Protein is currently being assessed on mice. The results are exciting. A wound on a mouse can heal in less than 12 days without a mark. Hair follicles are also regenerated during this process.

The research is still in its first stages.

Anglers may be getting excited about this Science. After all, anglers and worms are a big part of fishing. Worms are perhaps the #1 best all-around bait to catch a fish. Since many older anglers are getting bald, Worm Protein could promote future hair growth.

Before you get too excited, the research is not studying the common Earthworm. The research is being done with Intestinal Roundworms. Their unique chemistry promotes fast and efficient healing after they attach to human intestines.

Science is amazing! They are also discovering helpful Bacteria that compete with deadly ones. Thinking out of traditional boxes is leading to great alternatives for health care.

Maybe fishing worms will present solutions to future health needs. They have 16 hearts, are segmented, and can regenerate into many new worms if broken apart. They can change sex as needed but are neither male nor female.

And they are great fish bait!
