According to a press release by Alaska’s Department of Public Safety, just a few days ago, two motorists on the Dalton Highway in Alaska had a wild encounter when a wolf decided to nibble (okay, more than a nibble) on their legs while they were waiting in a construction zone! The wolf took off after another driver tried to scare it away with a shot (but missed).
The bitten folks are getting treated in Fairbanks, and the wolf is still out there.
Reminder: don’t feed wildlife! Even though these guys didn’t, it seems this wolf got a little too comfy with humans, probably thanks to some generous motorists. Feeding wildlife is dangerous—and illegal! Stay safe and keep your snacks to yourself!
What does this have to do with Montana? Well, we have wolves in Montana, and it is a reminder not to feed wildlife (specifically wolves), as you can never predict what wild animals will do next. If it happened there, it could happen here.
