Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve heard of a little video sharing app called Tiktok. This video app has had several viral food trends, but none that caught my eye quite like this one. I’ve been pressed to find a delicious way to devour my leftover salmon, and this video by Emily Mariko does just that. With a few simple embellishments and some leftover salmon and rice, dinner is served. Let’s dig in! Photos credited to i am a food blog and recipe courtesy of Emily’s tiktok.

 

  • The firststep is to take your leftover salmon and flake it up in a bowl with a fork.
  • Overtop that flaky salmon, you’re going to drop your leftover rice.
  • Into this rice pile, plop an ice cube and then cover with parchment paper. 
  • Microwave this little ensemble for about 10 seconds or until warm. The ice cube will melt and steam to rehydrate the rice and the salmon, but you don’t want to heat it until it melts completely.
  • Remove whatever is left of the ice cube and add whatever your favorite salmon sauce is. Emily uses soy sauce, kewpie mayo and sriracha.
  • For some extra flavor and texture on top add some diced avocado and maybe even some kimchi!
