For about 20 years Jeff Jones expected his father to walk in the door. His father, Raymond Jones, had disappeared in Idaho’s Lemhi Mountains while bowhunting when Jeff was only 12 years old. Search efforts were fruitless in finding Raymond and rumors circulated about what had happened. Fifty-three years later, a bowhunter discovered all that remained of Raymond on a rocky mountainside, solving a mystery that had long haunted Raymond’s family. Jeff was kind enough to talk about his father, and the effect the disappearance had on his family, during a recent interview.
