Eddie Mindt from Lakeridge Lodging and Bait shop at the Fort Peck Dam had this to say about the latest ice update:
“ Made it out about two miles to a pressure ridge, we didn’t feel like messing with that. We were coming out of Duck Creek with eight-plus inches on the new ice from Saturday’s freeze-up. We went out off Shaft House towards Bear Creek; Same–eight-plus there, as well. We talked to a fella we sent out to Shaft yesterday, and he did well on lakers…and same today, but he said ice was pushing 10 inches today. We are guiding all weekend starting tomorrow, so we will have more info.
The Flathead lake boat ramp to north point of Bear Creek was from 14 inches out to 8-plus, as well.
Ice safety when checking ice and the buddy system are important. We like four people two doing the checking and two tagging alone back always. Pressure ridges are big and broke up really bad.”
