Taking action on designating or removing Montana’s Wilderness Study Areas has troubled the state since the 1980s. A legislative council is now trying to figure out how to resolve the issue. You may remember that Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Greg Gianforte introduced bills to remove the areas from protection, but little to no public input was sought. So the legislative group is looking into how a collaborative group could be formed to come to an agreement.
