Montana’s 2019 paddlefish season will close on Saturday, June 1 at 9 p.m. on the Yellowstone River and the Missouri River downstream of Fort Peck Dam.

Anticipating that the harvest target of 1,000 fish will approached on Saturday, the Fish & Wildlife Commission authorized the season closure to prevent exceeding the harvest target.

Paddlefish harvest rates at the popular Intake Fishing Access Site near Glendive have increased with the warming weather, so it’s possible that the harvest season at Intake and downstream to Cottonwood Creek could close even earlier.

Following the harvest closure, catch-and-release fishing will be allowed only at Intake for 10 consecutive days, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
