The Captain had another great week and weekend fishing Fort Peck for salmon. This time, he was joined by Downrigger Dale for the whole week and then they did the Montana Outdoor Radio Show live on the water with Bill Zahradka, the salmon Slayer, and Heath Headley, the head Fish Biologist of Fort Peck. Taylor Micheals, from North Dakota, and his wife Stephanie also got a piece of the salmon action this past weekend. Then, on Monday the prize salmon was caught by Jim Johnson of Hi-Country Snack Foods from Lincoln. He put a 20-pound salmon in the boat!
All in all, it was a typical salmon fishing week. Long hours and a lot of patience. The most salmon that the Captain and his friends caught in a day was three. Most of those days were 10-12 hours on the water.
All depths worked and a variety of flashers, flies, hoochies and cut baits made it happen. That’s Fort Peck Chinook Salmon Fishing!
