Wyoming hunters met the grey wolf harvest quota in the first such hunt since 2013.
The hunters bagged 44 wolves total. It was the first wolf season since in four years due to a legal challenge brought by opponents of wolf hunting in the state, the Cody Enterprise reported.
The data collected during this year’s hunt will be used to plan the 2018 hunt. An organization known as “Protect the Wolves” continues to lobby for a buffer zone between Yellowstone National Park and legal hunting areas.
