Now that Fort Peck is completely frozen, ice fishing has started picking up. But there are a few things you may not know about this reservoir:

  • More than 50 different kinds of fish swim in Fort Peck Reservoir
  • Fort Peck is Montana’s largest body of water

  • Fort Peck’s 1,520 miles of shoreline is longer than the California coast.
  • Fort Peck Dam is the highest of six major dams along the Missouri River
  • Construction of the dam once employed 10,546 employees at its peak in 1936
