Here is John Daggett’s Fort Peck ice report:
We have not frozen over yet but I think it is safe to say the lake is going to freeze over earlier than it has for a while. Checking our records the earliest the lake has frozen over is December 10, 1983. The next earliest date is December 13, 1985. I think we could break the record for complete ice cover at Fort Peck but we would have to do it by Monday. We have some very cold temperatures forecast for the next few days so we will see. The temperature is below zero today with lots of fog rising off the lake.
Daggett also included that Fort Peck has frozen over before Christmas only nine times since records were started in 1944.
