The bald eagles nesting near the Tongue River bridge in Miles City have once again nurtured chicks to the fledgling stage. As fledglings, they have flown from the nest and spend a significant amount of time on the ground and flying small distances. This is normal and the chicks need this time to build strength and stamina. The adults are keeping and eye on them and feeding them.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is asking residents to leave the young eagles alone. They are healthy and going through a normal stage of development. Do not try to catch them and please do not bring them to the FWP office. Human interference at this stage is almost always fatal to the young birds.
