Check out the animated wind map created as a personal art project by a few people interested in creating a real-time display of wind direction and speed. They request that people “do not use the map or its data to fly a plane, sail a boat, or fight wildfires”, as they have done their best to ensure the map’s accuracy, but they cannot guarantee it.
It is really interesting to look at, though, especially with Hurricane Sandy on the east coast.
