Hi, it’s ANGIE from Bob Ward & Sons, the fishing is looking LUCKY around the Butte & Bozeman areas!

Currently there are only a few areas of too much color, & these would be the JEFFERSON, the EAST GALLATIN & the BIG HOLE….now, this isn’t to say these areas are unfishable, just that the fishing has been FAIR to MIDDLIN…if you’re up for the challenge, we’d go darker colors (tan, olive or brown range) and stick to nymphing your Bow River Buggers, Rubberlegs, or a Stone…6’s to 8’s are good sizes now. For you bait anglers, the BIG HOLE, especially, has reported some luck with Tan or Light Brown PowerWorms, or try a Panther Martin Black Blade lure with Yellow Spots..this is the NEW favorite on the BIG HOLE! The trout are hungry on the LOWER MADISON so turn ‘em on to some darker (Olive, Brown or Black) Streamers like Sculpins, Flash Fry or Krystal Buggers, sz 2-4! If we get overcast this weekend, expect the Midge Clouds to be hellacious pretty much everywhere…we hear that fish are coming up like crazy at the SPRING CREEKS (watch for rainbow spawn beds here!), the YELLOWSTONE, & the RUBY! Just a caution on the eastern portions of the YELLOWSTONE, below the BIG HORN: it’s tremendously MOSSY over here, we hear, & not worth your while right now. Don’t discount the BEAVERHEAD, reports have it that the Blue Winged Olives are out here…and a Bob Wards FAVORITE, the GALLATIN through the Valley & into the Canyon, is taking on a little color now, but still worthy…go with Stoneflies in the blue-green color range, or hit the risers with Parachute Adams or a ParaWulff Blue Winged Olive in a 16! Head to CLARK CANYON for some excellent shoreline fishing with Leech Patterns, Wooly Buggers or Ugly Bugs…
